Summer lessons are scheduled and paid for individually.
Payment for music books provided by Mrs. Owens can be paid separately, or included in the tuition payment. Mrs. Owens has a book-loan program, so much of the supplemental music can be borrowed with an option to buy.
There are extra fees for participation in events, such as National Guild Auditions, piano festivals, theory testing, etc. No extra charge for recitals.
Attendance/Make-up Policy…
Mrs. Owens’ attendance policy is simple and fairly flexible. If a lesson needs to be canceled, please let Mrs. Owens know immediately. A make-up lesson may be scheduled or a trade with another student can be arranged. However, make-ups are not guaranteed if the student cancels, but Mrs. Owens will do everything she can to find a time for a make-up. No refunds will be granted for missed lessons. In the case of inclement weather or if Mrs. Owens herself needs to cancel, a make-up lesson is guaranteed. If lessons are cancelled due to inclement weather, virtual lessons are an option as well as make-up lessons.
Practice Expectations…
Mrs. Owens expects every student to give his/her best effort in learning to play the piano. Practicing is the most important element for successful piano playing. How one practices is more important than the quantity of time one spends. Therefore, Mrs. Owens spends significant time teaching students how to practice wisely and efficiently. However, knowing that many students work well with a time goal in mind, Mrs. Owens usually communicates to each individual how much practice time he/she should be striving for.
